Kristjan (it's Icelandic) has been a tenant in London since 1998 living at 9 different properties- and counting. After a brief stint as a professional actor, he became an estate & letting agent in 2003. In 2004, together with An Deckers, they decided to launch their own agency- determined to build a service that placed both Landlords and Tenants on equal footing at its core. Tech has been at the heart of Kristjan's journey since then, often being an early-adopter of new solutions as they emerged. He has worked closely with teams, both market-leading and start-ups, to either improve or develop new solutions to problems faced in the marketplace. He is passionate about the amazing hard work that great letting agents across the UK do every day, frustrated by the way they are perceived and referred to in the press and determined to establish their value in the eyes of tenants and landlords alike. He is driven to help develop a rental sector that works for all and is probably best described as the Viking of Proptech.
An, originally from Belgium, was a London tenant 1996-2004 with a broad experience during this time which included a penthouse in Kensington, a bedsit on the Isle of Dogs and a house-share in Mile End. This allowed her to experience all types of 'service' on offer to London tenants. She became a letting agent in 1996 (attracted primarily by the lure of a company car) and worked at 6 agencies until she met Kristjan in 2003. Determined to deliver a service landlords and tenants deserved, she started an agency with Kristjan in 2004. Since then, An has made the technical and legislative elements of the lettings market her obsession. She has meticulously understood what these are, how they impact agents, landlords and tenants alike and worked alongside Kristjan to implement or develop ways to integrate these in to their operations. An ensures that the finest details are considered and that a tidy ship operates at all times. An wants to see an industry that is professional, effective and efficient and that is recognised and respected for that and is best described as the European Amazon of Lettings.
Carla is a South East London native who crossed the river and has spent much of the last decade renting in Walthamstow, a place she has grown to love. After dabbling in a cross-section of industries at the start of her working life (manufacturing, publishing, advertising to name a few), in 2011 Carla found an environment where she thrived: PropTech. Since then Carla has worked with agents of all sizes up and down the country to help improve their efficiencies, saving them time and money with smart tech choices and embedding the software in their daily business routines. After eight years with CRM providers (initially at easymatch then with Veco by Eurolink), Carla was thrilled to be invited to join The Depositary where they are passionate about creating a rental sector that works for agents, tenants and landlords alike. As Mission Specialist at The Depositary, Carla will be responsible for overseeing the onboarding of clients and the successful integration of the platform into agencies day to day operations.
